Poly Mount

EMS #1270

 Application Series of uncomplicated specimens.

Specific property Inexpensive, transparent.

Warning! Please read the following carefully

Contains Styrene.

Contains methylethylketoneperoxide.

Operation

In order to obtain a better adherence to the resin, the specimens should be degreased before they are placed in the mounting cup.

Mix 50 parts of resin with 1 part of hardener. Stir the mixture well with the wooden spatula for approx. 30 seconds.

Depending on the size of the specimen in relation to the size of the mount, the ratio of resin/hardener should be changed as follows:

Technical Data Components Resin/hardener

Mixing Ratio 50/1 parts of weight, 50/1 parts of volume

Hardening Hardening time 45 min. Max. temperature during hærdningen 1100C. All hardening information is valid for 30 g mounting material at a room temperature of 250C

Properties

Hardness   84 Shore D, linear hardening
Shrinkage   2-3%
Viscosity:   600-800 mPa0s (200°C)
Extra hardness:   Hardfiller
Mounting cups:   Seriform, Flexiform
Accessories:   Clips Ø6 and Ø9 mm, Multiclips
Limitations   All polyesters have a comparatively high degree of shrinkage in the use (2-3% linearly). Struers acrylic-based Citofix has a considerably lower shrinkage (0.4% linearly) and Struers epoxy-based Epofix has an even smaller shrinkage (insignificant). Therefore, when mounting specimens with holes, specimens with sharp edges, deep pores, or specimens with a low thermal conductivity, Citofix or Epofix are recommended.
