Fixation

Will follow most fixatives; Formalin is usually used.

Sections

Paraffin, Frozen or Celloidin

Staining

  1. Stain well washed Weil stained sections or Kluver-Barrera stained sections (with either of these the sections should be no thicker than 20 µ) or unstained sections for 20 minutes in Darrow Red Staining Solution.
  2. Pass rapidly through ascending alcohols.
  3. Two changes of n-butyl alcohol for a total of 4 minutes.
  4. Terpineol: Xylene (1:4) overnight.
  5. Clear and mount.
