Introduction

These UV Safety Spectacles

Important Notice

UV Safety Spectacles are intended to protect the eyes from harmful ultraviolet radiation emitted from UV lamps emitting wavelengths of 254 nm to 365 nm (nanometers). These UV Blocking Spectacles also reduce longwave ultraviolet "blue haze" for optimum viewing.

Note: For exposure periods other than eight hours or for ultraviolet wavelength emissions other than 254 nm to 365 nm, consult Document HSM 73-11009 "Criteria for a Recommended Standard: Occupational Exposure to Ultraviolet Radiation" published by the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare.

Performance Standards

The spectacles meet performance standards of ANSI Z87.1-1989. Spectacle lenses are impact resistant, but not unbreakable.

Cautions

The spectacles are intended to protect the eyes only. Care must be taken to protect other parts of the body from skin burn associated with shortwave UV wavelengths. Avoid shining any ultraviolet lamp on reflective surfaces. Wear protective clothing and skin cream.

Routine Care

  1. Clean all eyewear surfaces with a mild soap solution and inspect frequently.
  2. Do not use solvent on lenses.
  3. Carefully rinse off all soap.
  4. Allow to air dry or pat dry with a clean, soft cloth or tissue.

Note: Do not wear if spectacles are scratched or pitted, as the glasses lose protection qualities. If scratched or broken, replace immediately.
