How To Upload and View Al3d Datasets in Alicona Demonstration Software Sets

To enable evaluation of our products an account can be created on the Alicona that you can download an AL3D (Alicona 3D data transfer format) file. This file will enable you to download and view your images in a downloaded version of the software and evaluate the suitability of the results. This can then be followed up with a demonstration if necessary. To use this unique Alicona feature please follow these simple steps.

  1. Ask us ([email protected]) to set up an account on the Alicona web site
  2. Go to the Alicona Website www.alicona.com, click on "my account" and enter the User Name and Password provided. You can then download, from the "Products", section the demonstration version of the software of interest, MeX or InfiniteFocus.
  3. When you have the software downloaded go back to the Alicona home page and log in with the same user name and password sent to you by email when your account was opened.
  4. Click on Upload/Download
  5. Click on the dataset (Al3D extension) Filename/Save and save to a suitable location (data cannot be imported from CD or Memory Stick)

When the AL3D dataset is downloaded open the demonstration software, either MeX or IFM.

  1. Click View/Database
  2. Click on one of the "Projects" (with a red P) this opens a folder
  3. Right click on the "Project" folder and go /New/AL3D Dataset Import
  4. Go to the saved AL3D dataset and double click, import will begin automatically
  5. Right clicking on the dataset image will provide viewing and analysis options and we would recommend viewing firstly the DEM (Digital Elevation Model) and from the Analysis module the Profile. The DEM is a true 3D image that can be rotated.

This will give you an overview of the software and how it would work with your samples. To get further advice contact [email protected].
