90 Degree Edge, Frosted

Marienfeld Superior™ Microscope Slides

Microscope slides for in vitro diagnostic applications are manufactured according to ISO 8037/1 standard and designed for single use by professionals. The main purpose is the microscopic investigation of tissue sections and cells from suspensions, preparation of specimens and their archiving.

Marienfeld Superior microscope slides stand out by their exceptional wettability and cleanliness. They are manufactured to exact size and, therefore, well suitable for application in automatic machinery.

Surfaces

Slides are cleaned thoroughly by multi-stage processes without using any surfactants. They are ready for use, pre-cleaned, and well wettable. They preserve adhering cells and are well suited for smears of cell suspensions.

Slide Edges

All grinding and polishing processes are always carried out water-cooled, creating edges of supreme quality.

Finely ground edges with 90° shape. Water-cooled grinding processes result in remarkably smooth and burr-free edges. When handling infectious materials this type of slides id recommended for increrased safety.

For in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) applications according to IVD directive 98/79/EC, with CE-mark, recommended best before date and batch number for comprehensive information and traceability.

Marking areas

Silky frosted marking areas are suitable for fine high-contrast writing with pencil. Standard width is approximately 20 mm. Twin-frosted slides (at one end, on both sides) can be used with either side without searching the surface for the frosted area.

Printed marking areas in white or light pastel shades can be used with most types of printers and written on with permanent markers. The thin coating of the marking area prevents the slides from sticking together and enables them to be used on automated systems.

Quality control

Marienfeld Superior microscope slides are subject to strict quality controls during production processes and after.

Shelf life

Soda lime glass is subject to aging which affects the quality of the slides. Avoid storing the slides for too long and use the oldest stocks first. Observe the recommended best-before date.

Tips for Slide Storage

  • Always store microscope slides in a dry place.
  • Open your carton only when slides have reached room temperature.
  • Keep temperature constant. When slides cool, condensation may result and penetrate between slides, causing them to stick together.
  • Do not store slides near solvents. This will help to prevent their surfaces from becoming hydrophobic.
